Winter is a month that can greatly restrict activities and reduce choices when looking for something to do.
Planning ahead can make sure you fly through winter without being bored or feeling restricted at all.
Start in autumn by researching new and upcoming events and social areas you would like to explore.
Start by planning a few ideas of new hobbies or things you would like to try.
A lot of gyms, places add on extra activities during the winter to encourage more people to join.
Sometimes places have winter offers on so look at for website offers, local advertising for events too.
Start writing a book, or take up a night time course or class of something you have always wanted to do such as sewing, computers, craft making, wood work.
Keeping busy prevents boredom and weight gain.
Try to accomplish as many different new and exciting things as possible to leave you feeling happier.
Things for children to do in winter: Get them a selection of craft making materials, cards, pictures, stickers etc.
Set up a desk or tabled area in their room that allows them to sit and come up with a range of self imagined ideas.
This way they can have a sense of doing things by themselves.
Another idea is get them to plan for Christmas and ask them to help come up with gifts ideas for friends and family.
Encourage them to look through catalogues and write lists.
Things to do for teenagers: Allow them to join youth clubs and join in odour activities, why not go swimming or join something such as a group together.
Allow them to bake meals or do baking to give them a sense of reasonability and let a friend come around once a week when it's their turn to cook.
