Learning More About Satellite Broadband

Satellite internet is a new phenomenon for many Americans. Even though it's a new and expanding option - especially in rural America, the sight of many internet satellites popping up on rooftops is a more unique one. For many families, the option of going with a traditional cable provider or phone company monopoly for DSL simply isn't an option. If you are a rural family lucky enough to have cable service or phone service able to support a DSL line, you're likely dealing with a lengthy contract for a plan that you don't use too much.

With so many people getting their entertainment online, it doesn't make sense to pay for TV if you get all that you need on the internet. Many people are finding that this is indeed the case, and opting to ditch the cable TV service altogether. The problem being though, that cable companies are far more likely to charge you significantly more for standalone internet service than if you purchased TV with it. So, faced in a scenario where internet either costs 50% more, or you pay a slightly higher premium for a full cable package - most people take the up-sell and buy the TV package.

If you're a bit to smart to fall for the cable companies' marketing tricks, perhaps you've called your local phone company to enquire about internet access for your home. You've probably been told that you need a local phone and/or long-distance line to qualify for a promotional rate valid for 3-6 months. Once the 3-6 months are up, you're on your own to find something different or simply pay the difference. This can be particularly frustrating if you use a cell phone for most of your communication needs, or the internet.

The only third option for getting high speed broadband internet service is satellite broadband. A relative newcomer on the block, satellite internet works in much the same way as a satellite TV receiver. It looks the same, acts the same, and doesn't take up more than a foot or two of roof space. Satellite internet providers use the same kinds of "mini-dishes" that you're likely familiar with. The dish is not permanently installed, though if there's no easy way to get a cable in through a window or otherwise, a small hole may need to be drilled in the internet or roof - depending on the circumstance. Aside from these small improvements, the satellite system is easily installed and easily removed.

The system is generally installed by a qualified installation professional. In this regard, satellite internet also distinguishes itself from cable or phone company providers. Because satellite internet companies focus only on one thing, they are able to better train and support their employees. Technicians are 100% dedicated to getting your internet back up and running - no BS, no runaround. Just good, clean, fast internet delivered to your door.
