Do you know work from home moms? Have you always wanted to be one? If you have landed here, you are trying to navigate your way through the frustrating world of home based business while being there for your children, or you are considering becoming a member of the special and blessed group of work at home moms.
WHO AM I AM WHY AM I HERE? Believe me, I have asked myself that question a few times during my life.
HA! But for the purpose of this site..
I stick to how I ended up working from home.
This is my story: * I am a wife of 21 years...
and counting * A mom of a college student (how did THAT happen??) * A daughter to a widowed father * A mom to 3 fur babies, a fish & a spider (apparently college dorms frown on arachnids) I married at twenty and had my first baby a couple of years later.
I went back to work shortly after my son turned 6 months old.
I had always enjoyed working.
I enjoyed feeling mentally stimulated.
I was good at what I did.
But I DESPERATELY wanted to be home with my baby.
If you've ever left a little one at daycare..
you know the agonizing pain.
For me, it just seemed so, well, unnatural.
This was during the early 90's when everyone in my little circle of new Moms was working..
they came and went day after day like that was just how it was supposed to be..
..
like they had no other choice.
My choice was made one day when I left work early.
Anxious to pick my son up, I went to his room and saw him standing in his little crib, eyes swollen, face red, tears running down his face and his bottle laying on the floor out of reach.
It was an epiphany moment for me.
I swore that day that I'd be the one to take of my son from that day forward.
Now, of course, he was fine and not scarred for life form not being able to reach his bottle.
But he needed his Mom.
And I needed my baby.
I was (and am) very fortunate to have a supportive husband.
He was fine with me staying home and raising our son, even if it meant he had to pick up extra hours or work a second job to make up the slack.
Twenty years have passed since that time and I never worked outside the home.
I learned how to make extra cash from home and never missed a school talent-show, parent-teacher conference or baseball game.
I made some stupid mistakes and tried some weird things to make money.
Some worked, some failed miserably.
